狮门娱乐公司(Lions Gate Entertainment
Corp.)发行的这部3D恐怖片在北美上映的首周末获得了2,300万美元的票房,一举超越了此前上映的《被解放的迪亚戈》(Django
Unchained)和《霍比特人:意外旅程》(The Hobbit: An Unexpected
Journey)。虽然《德州电锯杀人狂3D》并没有大牌演员参演,但歌手崔颂(Trey
Songz)的参演是年轻观众观看此片的主要原因。据片方介绍,在年龄不满25岁的观众中,有三分之一声称崔颂出演此片是他们观影的一个主要原因。
'Texas Chainsaw 3-D' slaughtered the competition this weekend, debuting in the top spot at the box office.
The horror film, from Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., took in $23
million in its opening weekend in theaters in North America, placing it
ahead of holdovers including 'Django Unchained' and 'The Hobbit: An
Unexpected Journey.' While the film includes no major actors, younger
audiences were drawn to the presence of singer Trey Songz, with one out
of three moviegoers under the age of 25 saying his starring role was a
primary reason for attending the film, according to the studio.
In its second week in theaters, 'Django Unchained' took the number two
spot at the box office, earning $20.1 million. The Quentin
Tarantino-directed film, distributed by Weinstein Co., has earned $106.4
million in cumulative domestic grosses, putting it in line to become
Mr. Tarantino's highest grossing film (his highest to date is
'Inglourious Basterds' with $120.8 million).
'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' had its trip to the number one spot
cut short, falling to third place in its fourth week in theaters. The
film earned $17.5 million, bringing its cumulative domestic grosses to
$263.8 million.
It was followed closely by 'Les Miserables,' which took in $16.1 million
to bring its cumulative domestic grosses to $103.6 million. The film,
from Comcast Corp.'s Universal Pictures, stars Hugh Jackman, Russell
Crowe and Anne Hathaway.
Coming in fifth place was 'Parental Guidance,' the family comedy from
News Corp .'s Twentieth Century Fox. In its second week in theaters, the
movie, starring Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, earned $10.1 million.
News Corp. owns both Fox and The Wall Street Journal.
Other holdovers populated most of the rest of the top 10. 'Jack
Reacher,' from Viacom Inc.'s VIAB +1.88% Paramount Pictures, and
starring Tom Cruise, earned $9.3 million, bringing its cumulative
domestic total to $64.8 million. The Judd Apatow-directed comedy 'This
is 40' from Universal, took in $8.6 million.
After nine weeks in theaters, 'Lincoln,' directed by Steven Spielberg,
has taken in $144 million, including $5.3 million over the weekend. 'The
Guilt Trip,' starring Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen, came in ninth,
with $4.3 million. And in its second week in theaters, 'Promised Land,' a
drama directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Matt Damon, earned $4.3
million.
